Do you take insurance?
Our clinic is out of network for all insurance carriers. However, many of our clients receive reimbursement directly from their insurance carriers after submitting the invoice. We will assist you by providing the appropriate codes so that you may check with your insurance prior to the assessment.
Why We’re Out of Network — And Why That Can Be a Good Thing
At Oakland Neuropsychology Center, we are an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans. We understand that this might feel like a barrier at first—but there are important reasons why we’ve chosen to operate this way, and how it can ultimately benefit you or your child.
✅ More Comprehensive Evaluations
Many insurance-based evaluations are limited in scope. Insurance companies may restrict:
- The types of tests that can be administered
- How many hours (or units) are reimbursed
- Whether certain diagnoses (like learning disabilities) are even covered
As an out-of-network clinic, we are not bound by these restrictions. This allows us to:
- Fully address all of your concerns
- Use the most appropriate, evidence-based tools
- Provide a complete, individualized understanding of your or your child’s strengths and needs
You won’t be left with unanswered questions or needing another evaluation later.
🎒 School Support Services Included
We offer services beyond testing that are not typically covered by insurance, including:
- School observations (for behavioral, social, or academic concerns)
- Consultation with school staff
- Participation in school meetings, such as IEP or 504 planning
When requested, we’ll share evaluation results and recommendations directly with your child’s school—at no extra charge—to help support accommodations or interventions that work.
🔒 Greater Privacy and Control
When you use insurance, a diagnosis may become part of your permanent medical record, which could be accessible by other entities like schools, future insurance providers, or employers.
As an out-of-network provider:
- Your information stays completely confidential (unless you submit a claim)
- We do not share your records with any third party without your consent
- You choose who receives the report and how it’s used

Because we’re not limited by insurance networks, we can typically schedule initial appointments within 1–2 weeks—much faster than the months-long waitlists often found at in-network clinics.

- Provide a Good Faith Estimate of total costs
- Help you verify out-of-network benefits by providing you with the needed information
- Offer a superbill to submit for potential reimbursement (many of our clients obtain some form of reimbursement)
